@mattski73 Thanks.I saw the show in December of 1985.My wife,(but then was just my girlfriend),spent two semesters in college in London,in 1985 and early '86.She had the whole month of December off for Christmas break, and I visited her in London for two weeks,actually,17 days. She had bought tickets for us a couple of months prior to my arrival, and surprised me with them.I didn't know what to expect.Enjoyed it a lot.I will attempt to locate the Cd on e bay or amazon.thx again!

I saw this musical in London,in the Apollo Theater,in 1985.I thought it was great. It was my first musical to ever see in person and I enjoyed it quite a lot.I wish it was available on DVD so we could buy it and relive it again. It this musical available on DVD?If anyone knows please send me a reply with some info.I spent two weeks in London in 1985,and sadly have never been able to go back.I was hoping to see this again with my family.I guess it will never happen. Thanks if anyone can help.

@thecoolestdad There is no version of the show available on DVD and as far as I'm aware there are no plans to film it. The only production still running is in the city of Bochum in Germany - if you can get there I really recommend it. You're lucky to have seen it in 1985 - I didn't see it until 1989 by which time it had changed quite a bit.

@mattski73 Thanks for letting me know.I'm curious. You say you saw it in 1989.Did you see it in London at the Apollo as I did?Or was it somewhere else by 1989?When you did see it in 1989,what was changed from 1985?If it was just cast members,to me,that wouldn't matter since they are further away from the audience during the show.Plus,I don't know anyone at all in the cast, since I was not a follower of musicals in that day and time.So anyway,if it wasn't changing of cast members, what had changed?

@thecoolestdad Yes the London version stayed at the Apollo Victoria till January 2002. By 1989 the London show was more in line with Broadway and Germany: "Call me Rusty" was replaced by "Engine of Love"; "He Whistled at Me" by "Make Up My Heart"; "Starlight Express" was rewritten with new lyrics, and using the melody from "Only He"; and "Only He" became a revised "Only You" duet. Much of the score was reorchestrated with a faster, upbeat sound. The whole show changed again 1992.

@mattski73 Is the original soundtrack from the 1985 version available on CD? If it is,please give me the official title and info, and I will try to locate it on e bay or amazon.if there is no DVD available of the show,I'd at least like to get a CD of the original music that I heard when I saw it there in London in 1985.

Hi you can easily pick up the original 1984 London cast recording. It's a 2 disc set which you can pick up from Amazon, eBay..... Make sure you get the original recording, and not the "New Starlight Express" single CD album from 1993. Depending on when you saw it in 1985, it might be the same cast on the original album! But if not, it will be almost the same as what you heard in the theatre. Enjoy!
