  • Wondered if you knew Foster Richardson sung on some Jack Payne,s record,s.

There is a lovely version on the other side of the mic33george Regal double sided, vocal ,Joe sargent.

  • 'Lullaby Of The Leaves' springs to mind with Jack Payne.

  • Great arrangement. Jack Payne sings with real conviction. (a little like Ted Lewis). Wonderful!

  • Wow! Ive never heard this one! Such power and sense of urgency in the last chorus, just like "Brother Can You Spare A Dime' from those early Depression days! Amazing performance! Hey, I think I may have a Jack Payne here in my Yankee record collection too! I will have to post it for you. "When Kentucky bids the World Good Morning". Or do you have it already? I know nothing of this amazing band.. Glad I stumbled on to you! Am appreciating this great band so much more now!~

  • Wow...I just have to ask...what's on the flip side...Pagliacci?!

  • Another Jack Payne Imperial .

  • Love the dramatic intro and I love Payne's wonderful performance. He sure had me listening with my eyes wide open...

What a great recording! Ha Ha Ha.... :-) Thank you.

  • Fascinating contrast to the ultra-smooth Ambrose version, and Payne's handling of the vocal is interesting too - perhaps the band's experience with broadcasting novelty tunes was responsible for the dramatic treatment?

  • Wow! I'm at a loss for words. I've loved this song, and here's another terrific arrangement. Thanks so much!

  • Jump on board sir, the more the merrier

  • Just as inspiring a song for these times as they no doubt were back then.
