This is Skittles he is 20 weeks old and doing amazing things. Illiger macaws are very rare to be kept as pets due to so many few left in the wild. It is a pleasure to be owned by one of these birds.

  • If his wings were not trimmed, this bird not have to use the stairs. He could fly. I also have a illiger macaw and it is so nice to see him fly. I cant understand, why someone trim a birds wings. :-(

  • @thilohagen1 Safety! some people houses jus rn't safe the way that theyre built. like my moms house has really high ledges and windows and my bird likes to fly up there so wen i move bak there for college im probly going to trim her wings. and some birds r not strong flyers and run into walls and windows and mirrors. but if your bird has none of these problems then by all means keep your bird flighted its usually the circumstances that people clip their wings.

  • I had an Illiger fly away who was not clipped and i loved to see him fly beautifully but i never recall trained him. Broke my heart as I'm lookin crazy for him til this day. He flew faster than I could keep up with my car until almost having an accident and losing instant sight of him. It's the worst feeling but the bright side was I know the last bit i saw of him as he was flying over 100 ft high and screamin happily like I never heard before.

  • @thilohagen1 yea i with you on this one a bird that can fly~ can fly away from danger makes perfect sense to me i have alot of parrots from scarlets to triton cockatoos and to quakers suns and green cheecks all were clipped when i got them now the can free fly not outside yet but still~ Mike

  • @smokeynskittles He could get hurt your other macaws if he can fly??? I think it is safer to let him have his flying ability. With clipped wings, it is far more dangerous.
