Oh boy here we go.

You all knew that I had to do another FE game eventually. The only other FE game I would want to do was Sword of Seals, but I'm saving that one for later. I know my fans think this game is a mixed bag of random, but I ain't carin'. I'm gonna start doing this because, well, it's not that bad in my eyes.

Granted, as I say this, I rank this just above FE10, FE1, and FE8 while being below everything else, but it's still not that bad. I would much rather play this game many times before I go back to any of those last three. Still, there has to be some things said here...

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon is the 11th game in the series and is the remake of the very first Fire Emblem game for the Famicom. It is a very, VERY faithful remake of the first game, pretty much being a practical point-for-point remake. You follow Prince Marth(yes, THAT Marth) of Altea as he is exiled from his home after Dolhr invades and Gra, a long time ally of Altea, betrays them. It's then Marth's will that he has to find his way back and slay Medeus, the feared Dark Dragon of old.

It's a simple plot, yes, but, it's a plot that, you know, WORKS. Unlike that backwards mess that was Radiant Dawn's plotline, this game goes back to basics and it works and works effectively. I like it.

It's a faithful remake, yes, but it's a bit TOO faithful, as a lot of players notice that it doesn't take advantage of all of the more modern features the later games have set up now to make it play better, myself included. There is no actual new dialogue for the player characters, aside from a few select conversations, so a good majority of the cast is still, unfortunately, drastically underdeveloped/ The new features it introduces are either not very well executed or distract from Fire Emblem's core elements. There is also one VERY unforgivable flaw that is oh so prominent in this game, and by God, we'll talk about that in Part 3.

Well, in this episode, we start with a history lesson, begin the game, decide to play on Normal Mode, and take on Prologues I and II, all while we figure out how this plot is arranging itself.

  • the animation is dumb i mean who moves iike that, like the 8 bit version had a reason to move like that loool

  • I don't see the problem with it.

  • @MageKnight404 it seems idiotic mainly because they have the graphics to move diffrently anyways, should i download this?

  • Try it and see if you like it. If you do, great, the sequel's much better. If you don't, don't worry, the sequel's much better.

  • ok.. il ask you.. how do you record your ds gameplay? im just curious bc im planning on trying this game on merciless mode lol

  • I use Camtasia.

  • Best Game Ever for the DS

  • 6:13-6:30 To give an example of this, on H5 (and I'm not kidding about this) all the thieves for the first few chapters can double you (some of which in chapter 2 have 15 speed) half the enemies in chapter 3 H5 have around 38 Hp, as well as the boss, who has around 41 Hp, 14 strength, 10 skill, 14 speed, and has a Hand axe, so he can't be picked of at range. Did I mention that the chapter 3 thieves have superior stats across the board (sans luck) to the recruitable Myrm there?

  • @TheAranProductions i personally didnt enjoy this game. the handheld titles were so much better to me and this was too old-school. but maybe u'll like it more than me.

  • I think I have this game but I also think I got frustrated by it so badly that I just stopped playing

  • The graphics are wonderful. They're 3D but not the questionable DS 3D. They have a quite nice cell-shaded look to them. The GBA animations were a little too ridiculous for me.

  • He has a Goatee growth, lol

  • Hope they make fe6 and 7

    Remake 4 the ds

  • I have a question, do you know any place I can get the ROM to this game? I've tried Google, but I only end up with ROMs that have been deleted.

  • I honestly think that these animation are better than say sacred stones for the reason that to me they look more realistic then the ones in sacred stones and so on. That's just my opinion.

  • Your LP's are awesome. Keep them coming!
