Let's puth things in context. Beyonce does a good job. She's in a hollywood studio with all the technology, voice coaches, etc.. Etta and Koko spent their careers on the road playing small clubs all over the country back when Black people couldn't share hotels bathrooms diners or buses with white folk. Certainly didn't make much money from their recordings. Listen with your eyes closed and mind open and visualize where Koko and Etta were when they recorded., then tell me who's got soul

Comparing Etta to Koko is like comparing a Porsche to a Corvette. Most people would be happy with either. Who cares how many angels can dance on the head of a pin?

Lets all stop being so closed minded. Koko and Etta obviously are a lot older therefore haven't had the privilidges Beyoncé had, however Beyoncé still worked her african american ASS off for her career she one of the most influencial women in the world, she sings this song with just as much soul as Etta and Koko do, stop hating everyone and lets appreciate the fact we can still listen to their music

Makes the hair on the back of my neck stand on end. Truly amazing, incredible and wonderful. We miss singers like this these days.... Man they could truly sing. Heart and soul.

@Beyoncefan1000 Amen. I'm an "old fart" and I appreciate Beyonce's version just as much as Koko's and Etta's versions. Let's drop the bullshit and just enjoy the great music these three Goddesses of Song blessed us with.

Had the honor to play three songs with her in the 90's
I must admit that I regret my comment about Beyonce earlier..one year ago. As I respect both Beoynce AND mr. Stewart. (To you that comment negatively about him: I think you`ve missed something good)
