I love Howells' music so much. He is, to me, the "mac Daddy" of anglican choral music. One of the biggest shames in this world is how relatively little known Howells is (my own composition teacher didn't even know who Howells is!) I especially love the irony of Howells' father playing in the Gloucester cathedral and Herbert practically growing up there as a child.
He had an intimate relationship with the hall, to say the least.

You...are...an...idiot.

I find your reply to be arrogant and self serving. Nothing will ever justify your language but most of all your total disrespect for music written to be sung in a house of God. One day you might just regret your comments.

@mibi1946 there is no higher praise to a piece of music than calling it the f**ing d*addy (censored for your benefit). It's only language - I didn't even blaspheme - then you might have legit protest!
-
@ThePrinceofParody Your language is an absolute disgrace and you should be ashamed to use it in the context of religious music. Grow up and show some dignity!

Judging by the timing, this is from a recording by The Collegiate Singers, directed by Andrew Millinger, "Herbert Howells: Complete Morning and Evening Services, Vol 2" released in 1997.
