This is a video about my Lake Malawi cichlid tank. I have pair it with my favorite song "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence the audio is purely an audio swap and not a copyright infringement... ** NO COPYRIGHT INTENDED IN THE MAKING OF THIS VIDEO**. Lake Malawi is one of the three African Rift Lakes and also the seventh largest continental lake int the world. Lake Victoria and Lake Tanganyika are the other two African Rift lakes... Lake Victoria being the third largest continental lake and Lake Tanganyika being the fourth. The two species that are displayed in the video are Red Zebras and Yellow-Tailed Acei. They are both part of the a group of fish called Mbunas which in the local language of Malawi means "rock dwelling fish" The Male Red Zebra are naturally blue in color but sense the species has been in captivity so long the blue has gone away making many of the males very pale but the one shown the most in the video is thought to be a male because of the sight of a powder blue on his fins and sometimes if the light shines correctly his whole body seems to shimmer blue. A truly amazing sight to see but can never really be film it as the camera is very sensitive to light. in fact what you see here is what the fish normally look like under my bright light but I am in fact using a small light used mainly for a ten gallon fish tank. The Yellow-Tailed Acei have spawned three times but I am still struggling to keep the female from swallowing!:( Can anyone give me some advise... I know that you have to wait two weeks before you can strip the female but I cant keep her from eating the eggs in that time.

  • Nice tank :) The fish are so bright-colored and pretty!

  • Hi I see u had commented on someone else's vid bout red zebras so I came to have a look, I don't believe the egg spot thing, I'm new to chiclids but I have 100% females with 5/6 spots, I have a male and female red zebra, and I can easily see the differences my female has 3 egg spots my male has quite a few, but the male's bottom fins are totally different to the female, my males anal fin is alot longer and pointy, my females is rounded, also my male's front bottom fins are alot longer and more

  • @9364peter .. Malawi is the lake they come from .. The name mbuna means rock dwelling fish.. Correct me if I'm wrong :/

  • Check out my tank ... Custom blu and pink led lighting .. Tell me what u think
