There are a lot of advantages like power consumption and longevity, etc.
The signal of 80% or more is already LED in the whole country.
It seems to become a saving of about 700,000 dollars a year.

In the winter snow areas of the States these lights don't work well because LEDs don't create heat to melt the snow. Consequently you can't see the light. Many cities are going back to the old style. Not everything new is better...

Although call certainly a green light also blue, of course we do not look really blue things.
in Japan, we often say " blue" to the green things, for example, green leaves, green vegetables etc.
that is to say, "blue" means fresh green, I would think.

We have had these here for the past few years. They are really nice. I personally like them much better. They are much easier to see in my opinion!

@shinjohitsugaya Such an interesting observation... For though I intended to cross when I pushed the button, post-push circumstances removed the need. Should one still be obliged to cross in order to follow through with pre-push intent or relinquish the obligation based on post-push reality? A very curious question indeed...
