Paul was right. From Wikipedia: "Hoover tried to combat the ensuing Great Depression with volunteer efforts, public works projects such as the Hoover Dam, tariffs such as the Smoot-Hawley Tariff, an increase in the top tax bracket from 25% to 63%, and increases in corporate taxes. We have this fear that everyone would be fucked if governments left us alone to take care of ourselves. We would have more of our own money that we make and I'm sure people would love that and go out and spend loads on the economy instead of the government telling you what to spend it on. Why do people have such a problem voting for this man???
