Gameplay from the NES version of Bugs Bunny Crazy Castle, emulated in NEStopia.

Bugs Bunny is awesome. He might be my favorite cartoon character of all time, and that's saying something. He's a self-aware rabbit in a human world, and uses wits to outsmart both those stronger than him and those whom nature simply favored otherwise. He's an icon, plain and simple.

So why does he get a lackluster game on the NES? BBCC is something of a puzzle game, in which you guide Bugs through rooms full of carrots, items, and enemies. The problem comes in the game's big flaw: Bugs seems to move on sort of a grid, snapped to certain points on a given platform - and, should he fall, he's forced to step forward on landing, something that can ruin an otherwise good run through a level. There's no jumping, just the ability to use heavy objects or a boxing glove to try and defeat the enemies. That's not a flaw, mind you.

The enemies are the other big sticking point - Daffy, Yosemite Sam, and Wile E. Coyote (SUUUUUUUUUUPER GEEEEEEEEEEEENIUS) are present, and all those make sense, but why Sylvester? Better yet, why THREE different Sylvesters?

At least the music's pretty good.

  • What a great game......I used to play this thing for hours and hours on end! And you know what? I didn't get tired of the music which was a monumental achievement for old video games........I sure do wish that games oday still focused on the "fun" factor as much as they do the "visuals"!!!

  • OMFG.... I pitty the fools who will never know this game as I did as a kid :)

  • My childhooddddd. This was my favorite game!

  • ah another classic from my child hood. and actually finish the game

  • @Doommaster1994 All three games remind me of the 1920s/1930s. "Deja Vu" rocked.

  • @SyBabyProductions Reminds me of Deja Vu's music, then again all 3 games are the same developer.

  • I always liked the music; it reminds me of a calliope. Same for "Birthday Blowout".
