In the Helvetica Movie, i think he was just trying to explain the change in design mentality from the 50s to 60s cleaner aesthetics. It did not sound obnoxious at all, in fact really teacher like.

Just the way he (Eggers) talks about the coke ad he references in the movie is really annoying...it could also just be me.
