not martial arts. If you face off against somebody with the rules of etiquette in mind as a part of your fallback training then you will be vulnerable, especially if your opponents knows the rules of your sword sport's scoring system. historical sword training is much different. you bring up a good point how sword fighting has lost a lot of its practical use due to modern versions clouding the real history.

@gamefox120 ill tell you one thing though cuz ive done fencing and kendo before but i just got sick of them because they make you fight in their specific way i know its because its the better way to use the specific sword but theres hardly any free style with it which i found boring especialy in kendo i hated the way you have to score by hiting them shouting where you hit them and stomping your foot exactly at the same time which is weird cuz if you dont get it perfect you dont score
