to help you out count it like this pulsing the number with quotes around them
"1" 2 "3" 4 "1" 2 3 "1" 2 "3" 4 "1" 2 3
which is 7/8 time so count it on the eighth notes. If you have not learned about time signatures yet. Although the eighths. Listen to the song and notice how he strums some parts on those pulsed numbers.
