A short series of videos to introduce you to one of the only free IC layout programs that are widely available.

Let's start off with learning how to change our view; just like indoctrination!

You can download LASI for free from http://lasihomesite.com/

  • What is it? Freeware AutoCAD?

  • It's a little different from AutoCAD, since AutoCAD is mostly intended for designing mechanical structures, while LASI is specifically for designing integrated circuits, also known as chips.

  • That reminds me of the E-Workbench program we used in University...pity that I couldn't continue studying that Computing career... Oh, well, it's late, but never too late to try that again ^_^

  • I still have my copy of Electronics Workbench around somewhere... This is a little different because it's an actual layout program, so the mechanical is just as important as the electrical, if not more so. It's never too late to learn, but these days, I would probably recommend just studying on your own rather than taking classes... Cheaper and you learn more that way. ;)

  • Finally got my new sound card and can catch up on videos. Pardon if I post lots of comments.

  • I watched almost the entire video before I had to wiki just what the heck an IC editor was, but now I know and can appreciate this walk through all the better. I love how I seem to learn something new every time I watch Lateblt.

  • Nerdish delight is never boring!

  • It's just a bit... Boring?

  • Why wouldn't I? It's full of nerdish delight.

  • WHAT'S THAT BOY? LASI FELL DOWN THE WELL?

I loved my digital logic course in College but I haven't thought much about the stuff since. Watching this video is making me eye the download link on the LASI website...
