im unsure what i should get, the garmin 696 or this, what i dont understand is how the aspen is $2000 more for the most basic version and from this video does not support such wx or traffic info, is this because the garmin can only be used to aid navigation and not act as a PFD? thanks

I have always wondered about how resilient the screen is on that.
Since its LCD, if anything hits it, your in trouble.

But perhaps they already solved that problem.

They have. I flew my plane yesterday afternoon with it, with sunlight blaring right onto it. You could still see it completely clearly.

I was talking mour about objects in the cockpit hitting in, not really sunlight.

Most things that are LCD screens are very fragile and only takes a small bump ot puncture and the whole screen is useless.

But, Im not bashing this product, I dont know too much about it really.

Plays well with most any navigational inputs like KLN-90 and even older collins or narco nav inputs. Im on my 5th install.
