Here is the first test of my new dynamic sprite lighting system. AFAIK it's not been done before, although I did see a primitive version back in Lucasarts' The Dig years ago. Not sure if they did it procedurally though. Frame rate looks odd as I don't have any proper encoding software at the moment.

Enjoy!

  • This same idea occurred to me last night, so I did some googling to see if anybody else has done it. I have so far found yours and one other person trying the same thing (dynamic lighting). I'm also considering other dynamic effects on top of this though. This looks really cool. It's encouraging! Good job!

  • I've had idea for something like this in the past except using bump maps to assist the process. Very awesome to see this kind of idea in action, and I hope you come up with a full game using it! Adds whole new levels to the atmosphere in a pixel-art based game.

  • good work
