1940 Operation Weserübung: Norwegen

UFA Tonwoche No. 502. April 17, 1940. En route to the military occupation of Norway.In the early morning hours strong forces have landed in a harbour by seaplane.The goal of reaching an airport on the coast has been achieved.The occupation troops disembark from the aircraft.Weapons and ammunition are unloaded.The assault troops prepare to advance. Their task is to occupy important military positions near the airport.Near the airport a British Sunderland aircraft has been shot down.Machine guns and heavy flak batteries are set up to secure the coast against enemy air attack.The fortress outside Oslo (Oskarborg). Pockets of resistance are hit by German bombers.German troops land unhindered at Oslo.The German navy escorts numerous troop ships to the western coast of Norway and around English minefields.An ship-borne aircraft is sent out to reconnoiter prior to landing.Norway's coastline has been reached.Passage route through a fjord.An English aircraft attacks. Ship borne flak drives it away before it can drop its bombs.The ships progress deeper into the fjord.A German bomber lands beside the transport ships.The harbour of Bergen has been reached.The German ships put to anchor.The first commandos are put to shore.All maneuvers are carried out with thorough discipline.At all other important harbours of Norway, troops have been put to shore by transport.

The germans were lucky that Norway chosed not to mobilise before it was too late. Or else we would kill their entire fleet going for Oslo. But we did kill the ship that mattered. Blucher.
