This clip is Thiago heavy. The Marcela/Marina material is the last piece of the clip.

This clip repeats the arrival of Thiago at Aranha's DOPS office.
After closing the door on the reporters, Aranha tells the sectratary to note everything. Thiago will tell him everything he wants to know, he says, or suffer the consequences. Thiago asks if he's going to start the interrogation with a threat? Aranha says he'll soon see that the interrogation could be a lot harder than he thinks. Thiago says, you wouldn't be talking about torture, would you? You're the one who mentioned torture, Aranha says. Thiago then says he's written about this: the practices of the Brazilian police and how in the time of a dictator, the middle class can be subject to all types of violence and the rich can get away with anything. I didn't call you in here to listen to your nonsense, Aranha says, he has a special interest in the most dangerous Communists waging an armed fight, Eventually Thiago will open up and tell him everything he wants to know, Aranha warns.

Aranha says he wants the dissidents. Thiago says he doesn't know anything about them. He hasn't been involved political in a a very long time. Nowadays he's content to think and write in the newspaper. It's an interesting story of change, isn't it? Who knows whether someday the people being sought by the police might be considered Brazilian heroes? [Editor Note: The current president of Brazil, Dilma Vana Rousseff, the first female to hold the office, was in the years after the 1964 coup a socialist rebel, and a member of Marxist urban guerrilla groups] That will never happen Aranha says, because the communist revolution will fail in Brazil. He wants all the leaders of the left, all the friends of Ché, Everyone who is waging armed rebellion. Thiago says you will have to arrest all of the poor. And that this situation is the work of forces in Washington. Eventually everyone will know it. Aranha tells the secretary to note down everything -- but only everything that Thiago says. Thiagos says of course you don't want a record of your violent threats. Aranha says he doesn't want to debate communism -- he wants Thiago's compadre, Bastitelli.

Aranha says -- you're close friends, old friends in the struggle, he's godfather to Thiago's children. All that's true, Thiago says, but he doesn't know where Bastitelli is. Aranha says he's a liar. You know he's the leader of the guerrillas, Aranha says. I know he's a leader -- but we differ. I prefer to be the unarmed struggle of the newspaper. Aranha says that newspaper incites the people to violence. Thiago says they protest against the abuses and injustices. Yes, Bastitelli wants to make revolution; the military made revolution. Bastitelli's is just another one. Everyone knows this. Aranha say Bastitelli wants a communist revolution, like Cuba, Russia, China. Thiago says -- you can torture me, you can kill me, but I won't tell you where Bastitelli is because I don't know. Now can I leave, my colleagues are waiting.

Aranha tells Thiago he can leave. When Thiago leaves, Aranha orders the DOPS to investigate Marina, and to tap the telephones at the newspaper.
Marcela's hanging up the phone. Good news, Thiago's left DOPS. Oh what good news, Marina says. Marcela thinks Aranha must have mad that he couldn't get anything out of Thiago. Marcela says she should call Thiago, celebrate the success of Marina's strategy. No, Marina says, let him celebrate with his family. Marcela's worried about Marina, preoccupied with a married man. Marina say's what am I supposed to do about it? Marcela says she could declare herself to him. No, I can't even think of that, Marina says. You're going to suffer all alone, Marcela asks? Or hopefully forget about it, Marina says, I can't destroy a marriage. Marriage's aren't destroyed this way, Marcella says. If he's interested in you, things already aren't good at home. Marina says she couldn't like with the blame. Marcela says do something about it, she doesn't want to see Marina suffer with this. Marina says, okay well I'm going to work. We're two professional journalists.
Marina wishes she could publish a paper with only rose colored news (ie good news) Marcela says there's a black cloud over Brazil. She closes the door. Marcela is almost certain that they are carrying out torture at DOPS. Marina asks if she has specific information or just rumor. Marcela says she has information directly from João, Thiago's son. Marina says we need proof, not just accusation, to do a big story in the paper. Who's going to testify, Marcela says, everyone is too afraid. Marina says, it's our responsibility to find evidence so people can see exactly what is happening with the dictatorship.
