Hi Lovelies...here's a quick recipe for red beans and rice..cooked in the crosckpot!!! Yay!!
Ingredients:
1 pound small dried red beans, soaked overnight
1 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoon of garlic, minced
1 bay leaf
1 tsp cajun seasoning
1 pound of smoked Kielbasa sliced and cubed.
1 and 1/2 quarts of water (or enough water to cover)
your favorite rice
Preparation:
In crockpot, combine everything except the sausage. Add enough water to cover (approx 1 1/2 quarts water). Cook on high for 7 hours. Toss in the sausage and cook for 1 more hour.
Season with salt and pepper to taste...serve with rice. This will serve 8-10 people.

  • Wow!! I just discovered your video on red beans and rice. I am a man who likes to cook, so I will definately try your recipe. I like to use chicken stock when cooking certain meals. Do you feel that adding chicken stock instead of water would make this recipe not taste good or too salty? Also, I see that you have a ring on your wedding finger, no disrespect to you or your husband, but you are a cutie pie.

  • @1btuber awwww...thank you :-) if you use a low salt stock it should be fine. also..no hubby..lol

  • Hi Robin, Red beans and rice are a regular staple in my family. I was raised on them and passed it on to my family. My father is from Louisiana....need I say anymore? LOL! I have never used my crockpot (don't laugh) ...I guess I'll give it a try. I'm a single parent and I have a full time schedule....now I can enjoy my favorite dinner during the weekday(smile). Thanks sista!
