Blue October's latest album, Foiled, made its debut at a respectable Number 29, but their latest single, "Hate Me," is currently charting at Number Three on the Alternative rock chart.

The band recently hit The Roxy in Los Angeles as part of their tour in support of Foiled, and vocalist/songwriter Justin Furstenfeld said that "Hate Me" is an apology to all the people that he hurt while suffering through personal issues.

  • what's wrong with this video? okay, well first of all, the song playing in the background is calling you,,, from a totally different album,, second of all,, hate me was written for his mom, not his ex, his mom,,, and maybe if you actually listened to the real song and not the radio cut you'd be able to figure that out, because his mom is in it,

your a featured youtube member,, you should know to get your information straight before talking about something,

    geesh

  • Regardless of the fail, the info is still getting across, and Justin is real, down to Earth, and he is a hero to many.

  • @Ooxie1 Actually the song is written to his ex not his mother. He made it look like it was to his mother for personal reasons. I know, cuz he told me himself one night after a concert. Listen to the fade out at the end. GEESH

  • @Ooxie1 Justin loves his mother..... He wrote this out of anger and depression twords his girlfriend. The part with his mom was to try to cheer him up and to show that she was there for him.

  • @Ooxie1 Sure, it's for his mom, who left a message at the beggining of the song...

And then he says THIS: "Will you never call again?/And will you never say that you love me"

But yeah, it's about his mom, since she didn't call, and didn't say she loved him... OH, WAIT, I think she did....

  • @Ooxie Okay obviously you know more than Justin does about this particular song he wrote. So we're clear, music videos don't put images to the meaning of the song, it's a separate entity and shouldn't be taken as gospel. Every song out there means something different to everyone. I can personally say that Justin has saved my life at least three times through music, and that Hate me was written about my ex girlfriend and my best friend. Who was it written for to you? Don't say his mom.

  • Hate you was written for his mom, his ex, and his friends. I've seen him say so in a much more awake, aware and healthy state in other interviews. It's about the people he hurt, the relationships he ruined. It's about him loving these people enough to want them to hate and despise him, so that they may move on and find peace. I've been there myself, and i love this song.

  • Shouldn't a song from Foiled be in the background? Or, better yet Hate Me, for which the video is about??

  • i got really excited that they said hed be at lollapalooza because im going. then i realized this was posted in 2007 :(

  • He is one of the only guys that can pull off the black eye makeup without being gay looking imo

  • Does he not look like Tom Sizemore? ... A little?
