Chen Xiaowang Applications DVD excerpt, Laojia/19ct w/ fajin, off "Ancestral Chen-style Taijiquan: Internal strength learning boxing and coiling slightly"

Also, for English speakers - the translation is obviously very rough. This is one of those reasons to 1) learn Chinese, or 2) watch these DVDs over and over to start to get what is meant. Both are good. :-) And, of course, to concentrate your attention on the fine movements of such a master of the body. What he says is important, how he moves is its manifestation.

Also, I feel sorry for the guy in red. He really gets tossed around, even though I'm sure Chen Xiaowang isn't trying to break him. Though the clipping back to bigger angles is poorly timed, as always on these DVDs... The "Too much production" problem in this whole series (green-screen dragons, waterfalls, etc. taking away from Chen Xiaowang's amazingness)

Lastly, the final bit on this DVD (this is the last 10 minutes) on the applications of foot stomp and downward punch is golden. Super helpful for me.

  • are these three forces the same three axises that Akuzawa sensei of Aunkai Bujutsu teaches?

  • @zenhatesyou I am not quite sure what you mean or who that teacher is, but if I'm understanding correctly - I know of some related branches of tai chi that emphasize fajin in the three planes - vertical, horizonal/sagittal, and coronal/frontal. All fajin in my understanding should have strength in those directions - a lack of "pung" in any direction makes for an opening and weakness. These three energies CXW is talking about are not "components" like that- they're three applications, distances

  • please sir, may i have some more? :)

  • @ggmtstpt I'll see what I can do. Requests? This is some of the best stuff from his videos, if I may say so.

  • @aspiringbodhisattva

Where can I buy this DVD online ?

  • Great video. Thanks you.

  • no no no the english dub is prefect....it helps people understand the grammer.....where certain characters make the sentence....not the structure...

  • Zhe shifu Taiji quan niubi. To people who think Taichi is some kind of slow dancing or for health & fooling around in the park or the gym, who ever tought you is an idiot. Taichi is a hidden dangerous fighting art & I hope you now can see for yourselves. Many people teaching taichi are'nt authentic Taichi masters. They just learn a form from tapes to con others for money. True Taichi master like this are really hard to find nowadays. What a relic!
