On-board helmet camera footage from final free lapping session of Single Seater Experience on the Stowe Circuit at Silverstone. Cars have 1600 Ford Duratec 16 valve fuel injected engines and 4 speed Hewland racing gearboxes giving about 140bhp-150bhp in a 450Kg car - so 0-60 in 4.5sec with top speed between 100mph & 120mph on start/finish straight depending on conditions. Experience starts with briefing and 2 warm up sessions with single seaters split into small groups following a number of instructors in pace cars and building speed as drivers learn the track. Drivers are then released onto the circuit alone for final free lapping session - which has no rev limiting or speed restrictions - and overtaking is allowed on both straights. Fantastic fun - I think I lapped everyone once and a couple of people twice! My best lap was 45.51sec - but when the F1 teams test their cars on the Stowe circuit they go round in under 20sec though! In the same 4.5sec it takes these cars to go from 0 to 60mph an F1 car will go from 0 to 100mph and back to 0 again - awesome! RM ;-)

  • Nice driving! I have my session booked up for next weekend, how close together are the pedals? Would I need to buy some slim shoes?

    Cheers!

  • There's not that much room in the pedal box - but trainers would be fine. Wear karting shoes if youv'e got them as thinner soles will give you more feel. Enjoy it - looks like you should have some good weather conditions! RM ;-)

  • I doubt there's a better driving experience anywhere else. Brings back memories of a fantastic day, thanks for posting. Good that there's a brake board into 2 now, I found it difficult to find my braking point there. (There's nothing else to use as a reference point) Highly recommended day.

  • I did this for my 30th. Great day. Great day. Was the fastest with a mid 45 something lap.

  • Did have some good weather conditions, thanks for the advice on the shoes! Managed to get a 45.887, going to have to go back to get a faster lap :D

  • Jealous! I'm sure you enjoyed your time! :)
