Chris Matthews acts like Al Sharpton's undercover agent, trying to assist the good Reverend in deflecting from his insults towards the Mormon religion while simultaneously suggesting that Romney was trying to exploit Sharpton's statements for political game. The pandering to Sharpton from Matthews, suggesting that Sharpton was "as big as he'd ever been", was another illustration of Matthews living in a delusional reality - oblivious of Sharpton's true irrelevance.
