"Australia" is an epic and romantic action adventure, set in that country on the explosive brink of World War II. In it, an English aristocrat (Nicole Kidman) travels to the faraway continent, where she meets a rough-hewn local (Hugh Jackman) and reluctantly agrees to join forces with him to save the land she inherited. Together, they embark upon a transforming journey across hundreds of miles of the world's most beautiful yet unforgiving terrain, only to still face the bombing of the city of Darwin by the Japanese forces that attacked Pearl Harbor. 号称史诗般的超级大制作，澳洲导演巴兹鲁曼(Baz Luhrmann)找来澳洲男女主角妮可基曼(Nicole Kidman)和休杰克曼(Hugh Jackman)一起来诠释发生在二战前夕澳洲北部的故事《澳洲》(Australia)。

故事讲述一名英国女贵族（妮可基曼饰）继承一个面积相当于美国马里兰州大小的农场。一名英国养牛大亨对她的土地虎视眈眈，这名女贵族只好和一名放牛人（休克克曼）一起赶着­2000头牛横跨数百公里的荒漠，还要面对日本人轰炸达尔文的惨烈情况。

巴兹鲁曼拍过的电影包括情陷红磨坊(Moulin Rouge!)和舞国英雄(Strictly Ballroom)。这次导演野心很大，要集合浪漫、冒险和戏剧等元素，要将这部电影打造为浪漫冒险故事

12月25日圣诞节，就能见到两大影星和澳洲自然的风采。
