Nikon D7000 Why it's Such a Great Camera

@photofonz You do have a point there, I guess it just comes down to what you intend to use the camera for.

@photofonz Maybe Nikon's best camera for $1,200, but way too noisy when you push the ISO. At a wedding where the church didn't allow flash and naturally it was very dark, my assistant had no usable images from the D7k while my D3s didn't break a sweat (both shot in RAW of course). The D7000 is a nice little camera though for hobbyist/non-professional use and when shooting in ideal conditions. I have shot with one myself under varying conditions, and was slightly disappointed with it.

I am always hearing about the 70-300.

Excellent video - thank you! The D7000 is so tempting. I have a D3100 but am considering upgrading.

I agree, the D7000 is a great tool and you belong to the Nikon tradition of top quality bodies and lenses. Buying new and used Nikon lenses, especially really fast, sharp lenses like the 50mm 1.4 gets you great glass at affordable prices, low-light shooting and manual aperture rings you can adjust while recording.

you should be happy, my D7000 stuffed up after 3 months, err shutter dead and no stock of parts to fix it and no new cameras to chance it over, 20days no camera :S
"quiet possibly it may be the best camera nikon has made to date" is a bit of an overstatement dont you think?

@MYTRB - Let's not leave out the the rest of the sentence when I stated .... "especially when you consider the price tag of only about $1200".
It's not just my opinion but many other photographers I have talked with who actually own or have shot the D7000.
I still think it "quite possibly may be" If Nikon makes one better I'd like to know about it, especially in the same price range.

I'd like to know about the tilt-and-revolve cradle you have attached to this camera. Who makes it, who sells it, etc.
Love the Biltmore Estate images, BTW!

@159753dmh - Thanks.
Shortly after I got the camera I took it along on a trip we took to Boone & Ashville, NC.
I was really amazed at the quality of images this camera puts out.
The bracket shown is the JustRite rotating bracket. You can see all about it on another video I just posted "Camera Bracket & Accessories".

@parkerdonald1 - Thanks for the compliment. I purchased mine at B&H for $1199. They are currently priced at $1299.
Used on ebay they are selling between $1050-$1200. May be better to spring for new one since there isn't that much of a price difference.
