@jmorris724 Dude, what is your problem? First you necropost on a discussion we had a month ago, then you some how can't handle that I like both Doug and Scotty? Now you can't stand my calm "attitude"? Did I offend you in some way or are you having a bad day or something? I've heard of Robin's band (Gas Giants and Pharoahs 2000 were the same band) and Jesse's Low/Watts and solo album. I never cared about their popularity in the first place, just the music. As for Doug...

@jmorris724 I don't think that's a fair comment. Scotty's toured with the Gin Blossoms for years now and cowrote a number of great songs on CIS. The band probably wouldn't be where it is without Hey Jealousy, but Follow You Down and Til I Hear it From You were great songs too, not to mention Mrs. Rita, Until I Fall Away etc. You could easily say they all owed Alex Chilton, Paul Westerberg, Tommy Keene and Pat DiNizio. In regards to Gas Giants, Doug's other bands never took off either. Just sayin

The more I listen, "My Guardian Angel", and "Long, last, lonely mile" are the musical suicide note from Doug. I don't understand Spanish that well, but, it seems to be the same as the: "now I lie myself to sleep..."

Also, again, if you like the Gin Blossoms, listen to Hopkins singing the themes of "F-troop, and Scobby-Doo" during a break. Hopkins died way too young, he was an alcoholic, fired by the record company.
-
I would also recommend "My Guardian Angel", "Ponyboy and Johnny", and "Cathedral City" (though the Gin Blossoms played that song also), from the Chimeras/Pistoleros, as some later Hopkins songs, before he killed himself.

Chimeras and Pistoleros were the last band Doug worked with after he got fired from the Gin Blossoms. "long, last, lonely mile" was a solid exit song.

Love the guitar on this version :) Thank you for posting.

Saw these guys at Summerfest about 7 years ago in Milwaukee. Great show and of course great voice.

THIS is the way to sing this song for someone

@jmorris724 This will be my last word on this. I really don't care what you say to me, but I think that you need to grow up. I guarantee you that acting like an offensive nut is not a desirable trait. You have to learn to accept differing opinions and not go crazy when someone disagrees with you. Youtube's a good place for discussion but with the attitude that you have, nobody's going to want to put up with you. I hope you gain some manners and maturity, for your own sake. So long.
Great song, great band... it's a shame one of the guitarist died!!!

That was Doug Hopkins, but he died years before this song was written. Not a lot of people seem to know his work.

It's from Cities 97 Sampler Volume 14. Cities 97 Samplers (from KCTZ 97.1 Minneapolis/St Paul) are albums made of live acoustic performances from multiple artists recorded in their studio.
