Ava Cowan is finishing up her off season with a bang. Check out this heavy leg workout for quadriceps, glutes, hamstrings and calves, featuring barbell squats, hack squats, butt blasters, lying hamstring curls, leg extensions, lunges, walking lunges, seated and standing calf raises.

  • awesome video ava! thanks for being such a wonderful inspiration to me! but i do have one question: to get really lean and toned should i do heavy lifting with 20+ reps OR heavy lifting with a few reps like you did above? i really want my legs and butt to be transformed. thanks!!

  • @TheHipster15 "Lean and Toned" are two terms that can be confusing when communicating about your goals. If you want to have round strong muscles and low body fat, how you get there depends a lot on where you're at now. Start with lower weight and work your way up after several weeks of gradual increases. Once you're able to do sets with heavier weights, you'll gradually increase muscle. Being lean requires that you follow a clean diet. :)

  • Ava - Great video (then again, when do you NOT do a grea video?). Legs are my favorite bodypart to train, and I absolutely live by squats and hack squats.

  • Great workout,and tips Ava.I allways tell friends to get straps for the same reason,when doing deadlifts I m not trying to worry about my grip I want to build power in my back,I also employ them in my pull ups;I ll work my grips another day.I m going to take your advise on keeping notes on every workout it's a good idea.Keep up the good work : )
