LL = Low Level (limit = 29)
NM = No Materia
NI = No Items

Before fighting this guy, I redid Red Dragon with Cloud wearing the Peace Ring, so that he could keep Fury after being revived. When you have an accessory that protects against Sadness and Fury, you will stay in either status until you rest or cure it with a Hyper/Tranquilizer. Cait Sith had the Ribbon vs Red Dragon. They have the same accessories in this battle. Aerith has the Fairy Ring, so Petrif-Eye cannot affect her.

Onto the battle. This one if much more fun that the last three battles. The levels are still a bit higher than they usually are at this point in challenges, but keep in mind that you usually have Sadness and the ability to put up a Barrier in this battle. There's no such luxury this time. That leaves only the beautiful Defend function for reducing damage.

His attacks are rock drop, which is used in series of two or three, followed by Cave-in. He can also drop two rocks in one turn, which often is your worst nightmare in this battle. Demon Rush is used when his HP falls below 7500, 5000 and 2500, and he always wastes one or two turns waving his arms before using the attack. Finally, Petrif-Eye is used... well, I have no idea, but it's not used often. Some times, he won't use it at all.

The most important thing about this battle is to keep Aerith alive. So far, that has not been a problem at all, but it doesn't take more than a critical hit or a double rock drop this time if she's not defending. Ideally, you should have her defending all the time, but you often won't have a chance to defend after Pulse of Life, unless one of the guys can use a limit break after her. The fact that a defended rock drop isn't enough to fill her limit bar also makes the battle a bit harder.

Cloud: level 14
Aerith: level 21
Cait Sith: level 17

  • i know sadness makes ur limit fill slower, but what else does it do cuz in ur descrip it says having sadness helps or somethin

  • It reduces damage taken by 30%. In other words, VERY useful in a challenge like this.

  • And btw Garland, What is the music from 00:00 to 00:43ish.

    Is it Symphony X - Accolade I?

  • That is simply the intro to the song. The first Accolade is a different song (but similar in style) called The Accolade.

  • because that would require using an item, of course!

  • Good bye Aerith :(

  • FF4 Demon Wall was tougher... XD

  • @Warriorkiller666 He didn't; he fought Monodrives back in Midgar and gained a couple of levels that way. With 3 per battle, it took him 105 battles to finish obtaining all the limits he needed.

  • How do you get lvl2+ limits without leveling?

  • @Tyrai I hated CARRY ARMOR more. This guy wasn't this bad on my first runthrough in ages; I just forgot to switch my party to the backrow. AFTER I did that, I shredded him.

    Carry Armor is going to require some extra levels, to make sure I get my rounds in before he does.

  • wow your awesome :/

  • Hardest boss in the game... For me it was

  • In a LL run, can't you only fight bosses?

  • cool, with sadness i might actually be able to kill RAPPS WITHOUT using mindblow on him

  • 7:15

    He's signaling for the end folks xD

  • thank you lionheart
