Oddly staged, with a little white girl (Mitzi) leading black kids in their part of the number, and the well-dressed white folks who apparently have trekked down to the black part of town to see this outdoors revival meeting - ? Which is so infectious that Lillian and her male buddy can't resist leaping up to join in, to the displeasure of the ritzy matron - ?

There's a good version by Belle Baker on archive.org from 1929. Almost exactly like this version but less hiss.

This is truly just great. I wish I could find the lyrics to this particular version. It's amazing.
Great number,shame Lillian Roth's Paramount contract prohibited her from recording commerical records.She did not record this song commerically till 1955.
