  • @glawsny I agree with you, glawsny. I was almost embarrassed for him. :)

  • nice post. Tony Bennett jumps this number on his legendary 1962 Carnegie Hall set

  • Why can't black people be this cool anymore! Straw hats are so cool!

  • What a great period piece. At times the lady sounds a bit like Mae West. Thanks for this video.

  • Oddly staged, with a little white girl (Mitzi) leading black kids in their part of the number, and the well-dressed white folks who apparently have trekked down to the black part of town to see this outdoors revival meeting - ? Which is so infectious that Lillian and her male buddy can't resist leaping up to join in, to the displeasure of the ritzy matron - ?

  • There's a good version by Belle Baker on archive.org from 1929. Almost exactly like this version but less hiss.

  • @baldrottweiler I'm sure it's Honey. Paramount 1930.

  • @BuyBenco NO, ITS CECIL B. DEMILE'S MADAM SATAN.

  • This is truly just great. I wish I could find the lyrics to this particular version. It's amazing.
