Este es un disco muy bueno; una gran voz, la Reina del Blues Dinah Washington, y unos temas espectaculares, las canciones de la gran Bessie Smith. El disco es del 57.

  • ......before 'He' was taken from me....my most amazing father and I would go on roadtrips through childhood as well as adulthood driving down the coast in to the USA and he would play me 'cassette' tapes (dating myself), then on to dvd's with the greats like this lady. He said he 'wished' that I would never know about being emotionally 'blue', but wanted me to KNOW the BLUES all in all. Sad that I in fact soooo know the 'blues' since the loss of one of the last great men.

  • I love love love Dinah! This was the first song I ever heard her incredible voice and I was hooked from that moment.

  • have you ever wonder if a singer really knows what they convey I believe Dinah did with great conviction she'd set you up with one phrase and kill you with another and leave you dying for more I've yet to hear a more eloquent or cold blooded execution

  • Sing Dinah ....

  • @awwyeahme2 i'm thinking you are talking about the backwater blues / trouble in mind medley that's on dinah sings the blues....yes! that version is smokin red hot!

  • on her collection CD the version of this better

... I know they re recorded songs in those days but that version is the bomb

  • @thatCanadiangrrrl I also have vivid memories of my grandfather and a great uncle playing some of the most amazing recordings as this. I dont think there was any emotion involved though. They were just old black men who in the prime of their life, danced corted women and partied like rock stars to these tunes. By 1952 this recording was a do over from the Bessie Smith they kicked it too. The memories were wonderful

  • Great!
