The final leg of the 810.4-mile Amgen Tour of California took professional cyclists through Agoura Hills on Sunday, and locals and visitors gathered to cheer on their favorite riders.
Local cyclists congregated in front of Bicycle John's shop on Thousand Oaks Boulevard, then road up Mullholland Highway to get a good view of the race.
This was the first time the 5-year-old tour has passed through Agoura Hills, and the crowd gave the 128 participants a warm welcome.
Some local eateries got in on the action as well. "The idea about hosting a party for the race came up once we found out that the tour was coming to our community," said Jean-Luc Nouzille, owner of Ladyface Ale Companie on Agoura Road. "And because I'm a recreational cyclist, I knew that there was a potential for bringing the community together."
