Take Only Photographs, Leave Nothing but Footprints"

A short film documentary based on the philosophy of Urban Explorers whose motto is Take Only Photographs, Leave Nothing but Footprints the idea of entering hard to reach places only to explore and document not to steal. The film follows a photographer as he explores an iconic Birmingham building, the Birmingham Battery and Metal Co. in Selly Oak. The film has received great reviews from the Birmingham Mail and Talk About Local blog as well as receiving an official nomination in the Film Skillet Film Festival and had recently been requested to be showcased at ArtInAVan at Brixtons Smallest Cinema, Hello Digital as part of Digital Birmingham week and the Flatpack festival in Birmingham.

  • And of it's demolition has come nothing, the land is too contaminated by the old metal works, so now the land is just empty. I enjoyed this place, but not so much to make a film about it.

  • @savageman26 The problem was that Sainsbury's own the site including all the retail park and when they bought it they had to keep the admin building because it was a listed building. They said they we're going to incorporate it into their new shop or something but they just left it rot so that it was so unsafe they had to tear it down. It was a very sneaky tactic. I suppose the fascination came from seeing this lovely old building amongst modernistic metal structures.

  • happy flash wednesday and marry christmas

  • Thanks =D

  • Thanxs for the memories, a few tears shed.

  • I think its so stupid that Sainsbury's left it go like that so thy could Knock it down to build a new super market.

  • Thanks for this film. My grandfather worked in the Birmingham Battery factory and this building was always a notable landmark. Sad to see it allowed to fall into decay and now demolished.
