Random white people who don't understand the deeply rooted tribal and religious factions at play in this part of the world. Gaza has the Muslim Brotherhood Hamas, an Islamic theocracy in charge and are opposed to Fatah in the West Bank with almost the same venom that it opposes Israel, although it doesn't publicly seek the cessation of Fateh. It's not so simple to deal with 'Palestinians collectively as a nation' as they currently aren't one.

It is worrying when the organisers cannot find a single Sunni Muslim to speak. When the majority of people speaking are not of colour, how is it that the majority of Sunni Muslim Palestinians can feel that they are represented. I have respect for those who protest with us, but it is problematic when they are those who define how we are represented.

I agree that the speakers list at these should represent all sections of the broad movement against Israel's war on Gaza, Palestine. However, I have been informed that the Imam from Lakemba mosque was invited to speak by the Gaza Defence Committee to that rally but there was some misunderstanding or mix up in communication.
