Logic 8 has an environment window which allows for patching of MIDI effects. Taken from the Apple Logic 8 video tutorial, taught by Patrick Copeland, this out-take shows you how to patch the Arpeggiator, Chord Memorizer, Virtual Patch Cables and Object List. This feature is really useful for heavily sequenced tracks.

  • @HectorAndresMayoral I think the 4 big DAW's are all good and you're guaranteed a great result with them all, but for someone who wants to get into it from the ground up I think X! has really got it all now. The only thing that was holding Sonar back before IMO was a few stability issues but they are truly gone. Logic Pro is great too but the routing is time consuming. The sheer bulk and quality of Sonar's included synths and FX is amazing. If you get a chance download a demo and compare it.

  • @kaferere Though the arpeggiator is ridiculously and unnecessarily complicated in Logic, though I never use it anyways. Makes me miss those days when I used FL studio, it had the simplest arpeggiator I´d ever used!

  • @kaferere Hmm, I gotta look into that, though this info you share with my kinda´ sucks since no more than a year and a half ago I converted to Mac, bought logic pro and a apogee duet, etc. etc. Oh well!

  • @HectorAndresMayoral Yes, actually I know. I use it at the music college I run. It's nowhere near as good as Sonar X1 though, it's clumsy to use and now that stability isn't exclusive to Mac anymore, the days of pro tools and logic are numbered. Presumably that's why they have made a desperate jump over to PC. But I'm afraid that Sonar is now just too far ahead. Pro-tools and Logic have clung to an architecture that is just too old-fashioned, clumsy and slow and is terrible value for money.

  • @kaferere Actually, Pro Tools is the industry standard.

  • I know Logic is recognized as the industry standard but man alive that's complicated and restrictive compared to Sonar. With Sonar it's "insert Soft Synth" "add Midi Effect" and it arppegiates at the correct tempo without having to press play. Everything is sync-locked unless you choose not to, all from the same view complete with GUI's. I know sonar's had it's share of stability issues in the past but the more I see of logic, the more I appreciate Sonar. I wish they made a Mac version though.

  • Fantastic introduction to the CHORD MEMORIZER. Would really appreciate some info on the objects in between the arp and the chord memorizer but in the meantime i will try & figure them out myself.

    10/10

  • Extremely Cool. Thx 4 the vid!
