The topic today is age spots. Age spots, also known as liver spots are most common after age 40. These spots are flat and are brown or tan and are caused by years of sun exposure. They occur most often on the backs of the hands, face, forearms, forehead, and shoulders which are areas that have had the greatest exposure to the sun.
Age spots occur when high concentrations of toxins such as iron, fat and estrogen accumulate inside the cells and become clumped together. These spots have several names: age liver spots, senile freckles, brown age spots, and old age spots to name a few.
