The point of contact is the CN tower, and the lightning is traveling upwards! This AVCHD sony camera I was using does 280 fps and records three seconds at a time, so getting this amazing lightning bolt took about twenty minutes, as I got clip after clip of just darkness. There were so many strikes though, I was ultimately able to capture one of the most sensational displays of the evening.

Do enjoy, and pass it on!

  • so sick

  • @McKManiac Ground up lightning is one of many kinds, along with cloud to ground and intracloud. Believe it or not, most lightning never touches the ground but shoots through the clouds

  • @Bahamutend111 Actually upward lightning is one of many types of lightning. Others are much more common such as CG (cloud to ground, lightning that starts in the clouds and strikes the earth) IC (intracloud lightning that shoots through the clouds) or CC (Cloud to Cloud, discharge between 2 clouds). Ground to cloud is more rare, and is triggered bu cloud to ground strikes

  • @WakkoXtreme If you would've taken 9th Grade Physical Science, maybe you'd know lightning can occur from cloud to ground, or ground to cloud. It's simple science.

  • I'm pretty sure that lightning goes both down and up. And the up part is the part that is easiest to see.

  • Wow!

  • cool
