@DanRidgeway yes your bang on as i spent alot of money when i first started out on suzuki pro masters and i thought they sounded shite but the problem was not the tool but the tool using the tool lol hence my play and experiance, now i bet i could play them and love them, so just like your amp .... il put money aside and let it rest till the day i need to play on stage i think this is wise and for now respect what i own THANK YOU FOR THIS HELP DAN ALL THE BEST WITH MBH COMP..

Cool amp!
BTW, did you see Christelle Berthon? She use an ultimate 57 with a "bulletizer". It's a kind of cylinder attached to the top of the mic. It changes the sound and make cuping easier.

also using different amplifiers change the harmonic content of the sonic content as well.
enjoy your recordings!

All mics sound different. i wouldnt say a microphone has a con though. more like does the microphone suit the source and the material of music the best for the live session or studio recording. It is always a good idea to keep expanding your mic locker for different microphones. some mics may sound harsher than others on a specific source but it may be the appropriate mic for a different source. SM57, a studio standard across the globe. EV RE15 famous by elvis for his vocals.
hi dan a quick question about the amp did you add an effect peddle or is that what tube amps do?? sorry a bit of a noob in the electronics side and have spent to much money on a very nice green bullet but cant get the sound quality right. thanks you

@KingBiscultTime I'm just using the RE-15 and the SM57 direct to the amp via an XLR cable. I'm also using an IMT (Impedance Matching Transformer). I use one made by Audio Technica.
The sound I'm getting is from a combination of things:
1. My acoustic tone is pretty good
2. My cupping technique on the RE-15 allows me to drive the mic harder
3. The volume on my amp is up which gives it a distinctly different sound than if I turned it down slightly.
The sound I'm getting

@DanRidgeway thank you Dan for your time , im going to revise this i think as i have been pissing about with my small meridan and a soild state amp and i like the way they squeal after turning up to high but not to far tho lol feedback hurts my ears, also this transformer thing il look into this to as i havent the foggiest but like gussow told me if i do some leg work il get there faster... method in his madness ! thank you dan how much did 1 mic and transformer plus amp cost

@KingBiscultTime I got the RE-15 for free. The IMT runs about $10. Don't knock your solid state amp, I'm sure it's fine. Be happy with what you have. Don't go looking to buy new equipment to get a certain sound. From what I gather, you did that with your bullet and were let down.
Truth be told, I've had this amp since I started playing and I never really liked it. Approx 12 years later I have better skills and now I love it. The biggest factor is YOU.

i think it depends on wether it is being a solo instrument or accompanied by a band. the sm57 may take out some frequencies but may be the right choice depending on the song. just my two cents

@griploc1981 - Thanks for the input. I'm starting to notice the cons of this mic as well, but I still enjoy it overall.
