A humorous song concerning infomercials, written and performed live by Steve Goodman.

Although he passed away due to leukemia at 36 years old, Goodman wrote many great songs. Two of his most famous are City of New Orleans and You Never Even Call Me By My Name (The Perfect Country Song), made famous by Arlo Guthrie and David Allan Coe respectively.

  • Steve-All the best because you were the best

  • This man was a genius. Even though he knew he was dying, he still kept his sense of humor

  • @909chuck went to school in hinsdale/oakbrook. il..a franciscan seminary .. played in a jug band opened for this guy the chess club.in cicero...gosh 1968/70 ?? or so .he

.told me to keep my day job ..ha what a hoot.. i mean the kid changed strings during his tune ..never missed a lick...wow i remain impressed .....great songwriter !! ..what was the station.. wls? barney pipp ?turn em into peanut butter ... as he said lol wonderful memories

  • Days we shall not see again with an incredible music scene, pop, folk, blues, jazz AND Second City stars. I could list them all, but memory and space limits this to a single phrase, CHICAGO 1964-'74, OUR talent invasion!

  • it seems that somebody missed the like button.

  • Along with the hysterical lyrics, pay attention to Stevie's guitar prowess. The guy could bring the words but also the licks.... his days at the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago were well worth the time.

    I miss Stevie.....

  • I saw him the year before he died... he was warming up for ... I can't remember who... he had the audience in the palm of his hand before the end of his second song...

  • Steve and John Prine were great togeather
