Sanyo Xacti VPC E2 zoom demonstration

Just a demonstration of what to expect from the 5x optical - and 60x digital zoom from the Sanyo Xacti VPC E2 camcorder. Where it pauses (4sec-6sec) is the extent of the 5x optical zoom, and I take it to the max 60x digital.

*note - I like the Xacti, but it records in a proprietary mp4 format, which means you can't edit/enhance the video with Microsoft Movie Maker. It requires quicktime. This is a major shortcoming.

I am SO getting this camera! And about the shortcoming of the MP4 only format, it can be converted to MPEG so others can edit it on Windows Movie Maker, right?

MP4s can, they provide an Adobe Premere Elements CD, but when it is converted to MPEG format, the files are ten times larger than the original, and it takes forever. Otherwise, I thought ithe camera exceeded my expectations.

Well at any rate, the camera still looks phenomenal to me. :) I wouldn't care about the converting and whatnot, I'm just looking for a durable camera that takes grand pics and video.

Yeah, I was impressed with the picture quality in general, land or water. I cleaned the lens every couple days to get the best picture quality. Keep in mind this is more for a casual photographer and might not hold up to professional standards.

no but i mean does it film well on land? are the pictures and quality of them when filming/picture taking on land good?
