Lyrics:
I can see your heart grows weary,
when another child has died,
I can see that you are troubled,
with an answer you can't find,
Though I do not know you,
I will stand here at your side,
Until war is over,
and the hatred set aside,
Chorus:
We will stand here in the silence,
We will stand here dressed in black,
Till the darkness starts to fade away,
and the colours can come back,
We will search the sea of faces,
for a glimpse of sympathy,
A glimpse of understanding,
A glimpse of humanity,
We stand the ground in silence,
with the hope someone might hear,
Words are often wasted,
words are often insincere,
Chorus
The footprints of a stranger,
disappearing in the sand,
To some may go unnoticed,
so few understand,
To each a life is given,
no one should take away,
We are hear to mourn the fallen,
that their lives not fade away.
Chorus

  • Video games have glorified war for this last generation into something exciting and surreal, having no feelings for killing another, making your enemy unreal to you, virtual, a point you earn. Thank you for your service and for relating the 36 year old pain of it in your song.

  • I totally appreciate your comments, but the song is not mine. It was written by Janet Bates, and performed by her and her husband, Ken Bates; they allowed me to video their performance. They also have five others songs posted on my link. I hope you take the time to listen to them, also. Thank you.

  • The Vietnam war was over 55 years ago.

  • If your figures are correct, that means I was drafted into the U.S. Army sometime before age eight.
