This video will help describe the difference between bat lag (a good thing) and bat drag (a bad thing). Creating good bat lag along with proper torque will improve your bat speed and plate coverage greatly. For more hitting mechanics video come visit www.natebarnett.tubmlr.com and www.bmibaseball.com

  • sure, bat lag is good. but you completely miss what bat "drag" is. Look at videos and tell me that Ruth, Williams and Bonds didn't flatten (to some degree, Ruth and Williams more so) the bat. That is not at all what bat drag is.

  • I personally agree with bat lag and the importance of keeping your front arm at a right angle until contact. As a batting instructor, I focus on keeping my shoulders and chest still while isolating my front elbow and rocking it back and forth before moving your shoulders and hips. A simple drill like that can reinforce the general movement of the swing and allow the lag to initiate the swing!

    Thanks

  • but everything else is really good

  • i dont understand how getting the bat "flat" early in the swing is a bad thing..if you pause video on bautista right after his front heel plants. the bat is parallel to the ground.

  • i have that bat

  • the easton reflex is a very good bat

  • very good video

  • Wish I had a coach like this growing up. Sigh.

  • great, Thanks....

  • Good job coach
