On Saturday, May 10, Campbell Soup Company will join forces with the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) to Stamp Out Hunger! across America . Now in its 16 th year, the Stamp Out Hunger! effort is the nation's largest single-day food drive, having collected more than 836 million pounds of food since its inception in 1993.
To help Stamp Out Hunger! this year, simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, such as canned soup, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal next to your mailbox prior to the time of regular mail delivery on May 10. Food items should be in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans. The nation's 230,000 letter carriers will then collect donations from homes across the country and deliver them to food bank members of America 's Second Harvest -- The Nation's Food Bank Network and other hunger relief organizations in more than 10,000 local communities.
To find out more about the annual Stamp Out Hunger! effort in your community, ask your letter carrier, contact your local post office or visit www.helpstampouthunger.com.
Great video, just cut off the ending and change the title every year to reflect the current Food Drive Date. As in May 14, 2011.

Ummmm....no. As I said, I'm done. Our office does four of these can drives a year, yes FOUR, and the guy's who run them seem to always have the extra help, or they don't bother coming to work those days. In fact the Union President even called in sick on the last food drive, guts huh ? Nope, you make an emotional reply, but the facts are, it's a PR event for the local Union and participating business. Me, I'd rather help where it does someone more good than just a hand out.

Imagine what you did to help someone out for one long day. Don't think about the people who run it...think about the people who get to eat. I got involved during Stamp out Hunger last year...now I'm on the advisory board at the food bank. If everyone gave one day, imagine what would happen.

I'm sick of these stinking food drives. No help for walking routes, a long, long day and all I get from my Union Steward is a load of grief when I ask them to try and make some kind of adjustment to get help. I use to do the collectios, no problem, but the jerks that run it now days are a bunch of bone heads. Let them pick up the F'ing bags of cans. I'm done.
