REMADE
Warning, MoB features a male pairing, if you're disgusted by/afraid of that, then don't upset yourself by watching this. :)
One of my earliest videos back in my Windows Movie Maker days. The original featured subs and zero effects. I wanted to keep this very similar to the original so i used most of the same footage and the same timing but its still very new. Its basic,
considering what was used to make its predecessor, I didn't want to go over the top, its not the kind of song or atmosphere
that needs it, espescially when you take in to consideration how the majority of these lyrics almost seem as if they were written for Naoe and Takaya, I really wanted people to see their expressions because it shows the story better than my words ever could.
What I love about these two is that they defy their role and and stereotypes that anime has branded malexmale pairings with.
Mirage of blaze is not about boys loving boys, it has its story, which is well devleloped and fascinating to viewers /readers, though a tad complex to younger people, but then it was never really intended for kids.
The novels shed a lot of light on these two and combined with the animes story line you can really appreciate the sheer psychological pain the characters go through. The biggest thing that goes over peoples heads when they see MoB is how it conveys to people that its not about boy love, but takes it to a more spiritual level. Its about loving someone for who they are regardless of gender, body and mind. (which is proven throughout the story.) It throws away all these modern controversies and strips it down to one simple fact. Its about two people, not two genders.
The love-hate relationship is done better than in any work of fiction I've ever heard of. Usually characters in these situations haven't done anything worth getting upset about and yet a whole series can drag on between two characters angsting and exaggerating 'hatred' just to keep the story afloat. Naoe and Takaya/Kagetora really show us how its done by literally breaking eachother apart, yet holding eachother together at the same time.
The more you find out about the characters pasts, the more the series shocks you. Particularly Naoe's childhood after he was
reborn. Living with his guilt of what he did in the previous life, his self harming tendancies, the suicide attempts. Its amazing how you can look at a character, watch them do terrible things but at the same time understand exactly why they do what they do. And feel sorry for them. As an anime, MoB is a good watch, touching
the series lightly but the full story helps you realise, this isn't something that comes along every day and I honestly have
never seen another story quite like this since. I doubt I ever will, its a work of art in its own right.
