Thank you for flying British Airways . . .

Your so lying, they were testing to see if an engine were to fail and blow, would the compartment keep the explosion under control without erupting metal all over the place which would cause extremely more damage to the plane while in the air

A. It's not a "Turbo fan" Its a jet engine.
B. And the orange blade you see there is rigged with an explosive charge. This test is to ensure that if one of these engines throws a blade how it will react and that the housing will contain the blade.

I Remember seeing the actual documentry. they wasted 4 million dollars in the Name of Safety. They wanted to test there New outer part of the Engine so if it blows up from the inside, the Blades dont Shoot out.

booooooooooooooommmmmmmmmm IM LIKE je je je je

The simple purpose of this is to ensure that the fan-case can take the force of a blade detatching from the hub and being thrown into the casing. The test is passed if the main casing around the fan isn't broken through.

To let them know that even if someone planted a bomb on the engine it'd contain the blast and the shrapnell, protecting the passengers, I believe..? Good thinking!
-
they fired something in to the fan
that wasn't them pushing it beyond the limit
the coloured fan blade that you can see in it
that had a stick of dinamite in it
they were testing to see what would happen in a blade failure
