The acoustic bass is a cross between an electric bass and an acoustic guitar, held and played like an electric bass though it produces sound the same way as an acoustic guitar. Play an acoustic bass by resting the thumb of the strumming hand on the top string or against the bass body, according to the tips in this free video music lesson from a bass guitar instructor.

  • XD I live right down the road from this store!

  • Hi ! I am not sure if I undertand . Did you mean the string vibrate the bridge to create a vibration on the top so it create a wave to activate the back and the sound come out the sound hole ? so much stories around !

  • @68django give it a rest man! lol don't act like you have anything better to do! by the way, i'm not even reading your comments so go ahead and fill those replies with the maximum characters... i won't feed your lonliness anymore.

  • @playadominical Well, there it is, the words of desperation. Just remember who started this exchange, greaser, it was you, My original comment had nothing to do with you. You attacked My credibility as a musician, that's where this came from. I love how you think you know so much about me, you crack me up. Have fun.

  • @playadominical It's nice that you have a hobby. I have been playing since 1983, was offered a spot in a touring band in '85, but of course I was just a kid and couldn't go. I taught bass lessons for years and have played on 17 albums for various local bands, one of my own and will be releasing the second cd with the band I'm in now. as far as this vid goes, the guy is saying hold it like this and then do this. If you play, you know: you're going to do it the way it feels best.

  • @68django i've been playing bass for over 25 years both semi-professionally and as a hobby. i didn't attack you, i just pointed out that students should learn the basics before trying to play any which way they want. why you take offense to that i have no idea. i got your reply in my inbox before you deleted it, so don't take the high ground, you went crazy with insults based on my harmless comment. you have serious emotional problems or something! it's just a video about music sheesh

  • @MrLintRoller Learn every technique, it will open a lot of doors for you. Yeah this comment is late, but still true, the main difference is tone.

  • @68django you should calm yourself. some people who are inexperienced can benefit from learning the basics. not everyone is entwhistle. it's best to learn proper technique before deviating, unless you are a rare talent (which you are not)

  • Ok, I said I wasn't gonna comment....I lied....QUIT TRYING TO PUT RULES ON PLAYING...2 fingers??? rest on the string??? how about on the neck??? How about this.....?

"This is an acoustic bass guitar, we sell 'em, come buy one."? People are not stupid, they will figure out their own way of holding it and how to play it.
