  • look like enjoyment to me.

  • beautiful TWHs. I'm so glad people still breed the old style walkers. I just stumbled upon mine and he was the first TWH I had ever met and since meeting him, have discovered his type are hard to find. The flashier types in rings just don't have that rustic beauty our old styles do. those show ring ones just pale in comparison. Keep breeding! :)

  • Sorry but I agree with hogguide on this one. Typically the stepping pace is a deeper swingy gait, this is much closer to the trot. BTW just because a horse is nodding his head, doesn't mean it is really walking. A real walk comes off the back end as well as the front end. In fact it starts from the back end.

  • no old time this is saddleing or saddle gait which lots have known is stepping pace if u like the short strided thats fine but dont compare read the book "The Gaited Horse Explained" or something like that name it tells you if u cant figure it out.

  • i dont believe ive ever heard it called "soft trotting" but im almost 100percent positive i agree with hogguide. a walking horse or any gaited horse - "racking out of a trot" is what you want! a smooth squared up way of moving, as opposed to "racking out of a pace" which is wat most twh and all racking horses these days have been bred into in the search for a showier horse

  • Sorry, but they are soft trotting behind. As for "studying more". I was raised up with the Brantley family who BRED THE FIRST WALKING HORSES. When I was a kid I saw IN PERSON, some of the old timey, flat shod horses ridden and exhibited.

Take my comments as a learning tool, and not something to get your feathers ruffled.

  • because that is the natural run walk of the TWH and what they were originally bred for...no trotting even present.

  • Maybe you should study more....

  • Soft trotting shuffle gait....NOTHING like the walking horses from decades past..OR PRESENT.

  • Awesome horses - gave me chills listening to them do the peck a peck a half a peck gait ... I had a beautiful strawberry roan walker mare - died out from under me with an aneurysm going down the road. Haven't found one worthy of filling her shoes yet .... enjoy them every day they're with you ...
