@gamebuster800 They are only faster in large sequential write speeds. Since the data is spread out over multiple disks, searching for small files is probably slower than a single good HDD. Operating systems are lots of little files, not a big file. That is why SSDs are better boot disks.
@halo2pc Agreed, but right now is the golden age of the hard drive! Over 1 TB for under $100!

RAID0 with regular discs are just as fast.
i can get speeds up to 170MB/s with 2 1TB disks from samsung that are 75 euro's each.
I could buy 2 more and put them in RAID0/RAID5 for even higher performance and it's still cheaper than a single SSD. + much more capacity
only disadvantage is... you need 4 free slots and they consume quite a lot of power, but... like i care :P

Regarding SSD.
The prices will go down and the capacities will go up.
Sooner or later it will replace convenional HDDs.
