AWD is faster in a launch than RWD, but none of you are stating why. RWD have all the power of the engine planted on 2 wheels. This means that the friction force at the moment of take off is very small compared to the forward force, where as in a AWD car with same horsepower, the engine power is spread out to 4 wheels, meaning that each wheel has less force at launch. This means less wheel spin as well. The closer the friction force to power force, the better.

because on a car like that evo it has a launch control and a 2 step clutch so it allows u too launch at boost and walk the clutch out for a real good launch

i would have to say that statistically when you go to a drag race, where most RWD cars arent set up for racing, AWD usually owns. there are of course times where you get a good driver with a properly set up RWD that launches amazing. i dunno i own an 04 STi. i love AWD and would never switch, but my buddies ws6 is fun to fuck around in

Bro how many awd cars you know can cut consistant 1.1 and 1.2 60fts ?? For a street car awd owns everything all day but in a serious race application and if set-up correctly rwd wins. All the fast awd dsm/evo owners will tell you the same thing. Its he reason wh they are using for 8.8 rear ends in awd cars. Its why shep runs a solid rear axle in his 7sec dsm. I have owned awd cars and have been racing seriously for the past 10 years. These are all facts.
