I was passing through Hong Kong on 1st May 2011 and just happened upon the May Day march down Nathan Rd, Kowloon. My granddaughter and I promptly joined the rally.
We soon learned some of the issues - the main one being the paltry $3 min wage for workers amongst all of Hong Kong's riches.
The rally 99.9% of Chinese origin was appreciative of some Western solidarity.
