It's a shame they shit-canned the last of the S3s in 2008. They are pretty amazing at ASW and would have been tremendously useful against the Soviet Union. The P3 is better at ASW, but they also require 12 guys instead of 4 and aren't fast, maneuverable or carrier based. Thus, not well suited to rapid engagements of the type we'd likely have seen guarding the trans-Atlantic convoys against Soviet fast attack boats during a shooting war with the USSR. End of the Cold War killed a lot of planes.

What a great video - thanks for putting it up. I always liked the S-2 and the S-3. Recently read a book that had a fair old piece by a woman who flys a Greyhound - and just like all pilots she was proud of her job and her aircraft.
